"anywhere but a bed"

a bench, a car, a sofa (right where you are at, right now, Wilmington.)

Start by showing solidarity, choosing to sleep “anywhere but a bed” for one night.

After you register, you will receive a simple instruction guide to help you prepare for the event. A few days before the Sleep Out, you will receive a printable tool kit that will:

  • Guide you through the sleep out, allowing you to glimpse what life might be like for someone who doesn’t have a bed
  • Expand your narrative around homelessness, understanding who experiences homelessness, why they lose their homes and
  • Equip you with tools and connections to know how you can help in meaningful ways after the event

THIS IS A SELF-GUIDED EVENT and can take place wherever you are. Participate solo, remembering many people become homeless because they lack a support network, or do it as a family or group of friends, working through the challenges together and taking time to pray and reflect on the experience collectively.

The toolkit provides a “family friendly” option, suitable for all ages, as well as an option geared toward adults. The full experience takes 12-15 hours- go all in or choose one or two activities.
